PULLMAN, Wash. n It was a career-high Pacific-10 Conference volleyball match for the Beavers, led by sophomore Jill Sawatzky, who set a new career-high for kills with 22, as No. 25 Oregon State defeated Washington State on Friday 3-1.
Game scores were 25-20, 19-25, 25-18 and 25-23.
"This is a big win for us because we've always struggled here," coach Taras Liskevych said. "We came out and led in sets three and four, but then we let them come back. But I thought there were some timely hits by Jill, and you can't talk enough about 26 kills by Rachel and 22 by Jill. And I thought Kiersten did a good job coming in off the bench today."
Three OSU (13-6, 2-4) hitters reached double-digits led by junior Rachel Rourke, who tied her season-best with 26. Junior Lexie Rathgeber had a season-high 13 kills and added four blocks. Rourke also added four blocks, including three solos, and six digs.
Defensively, senior Lauren Rinderknecht led the Beavers with 17 digs, while senior libero Ashley Evans had 14 and senior Natalie Hooper added 13. Junior setter Camilla Ah-Hoy set a new career-high with 61 assists. She also had four blocks, eight digs and the team's only service ace.
Oregon State heads to No. 7 Washington on Sunday.
