City Council

meets Dec. 9

The Philomath City Council plans to get together this coming Monday, Dec. 9, for a work session along with its regular monthly meeting. The work session begins at 5:30 p.m., with the regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m. — both at City Hall.

Agendas were not available before the newspaper’s press run but the council is expected to take action on filling a vacant seat with the interviewing of applicants followed by a decision.

The deadline to apply was Nov. 27 and three candidates are interested in the position — Catherine Biscoe, Matthew Lehman and Doug Nelson. The person who is appointed to the seat will serve out the term of Marion Dark, who resigned in October, that runs through the end of next year.

In addition, the meeting is expected to include discussion and possible decision on an intergovernmental agreement to form the Mid-Valley Prosperity Partnership Economic Strategy and Action Plan 2019. Meetings also typically include reports from council members and city staff.

The work session at 5:30 p.m. will feature a continued review of the city’s 2019 Strategic Plan.

Elsewhere around the city, the Police Committee is on the schedule to meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the police station’s conference room.
