Corvallis-area residents have the opportunity to savor an assortment of food prepared by local restaurants Oct. 24-30 duing the seventh annual Local Eats Week.
During the week, restaurants will each offer a sample plate for under $10 that features primarily Local 6 ingredients. Local 6 refers to products grown, produced, or processed by farms or businesses owned and operated within the six counties touching and including Benton County. (The other five counties are Linn, Lane, Lincoln, Marion and Polk).
Thirteen restaurants are participating: Bellhop, Block 15, Bombs Away Cafe, Caves, Cirello's Pizza, First Alternative Co-Op, Gathering Together Farm, Laughing Planet Cafe, Le Patissier, Nearly Normal's, New Morning Bakery, Sky High Brewing, and White Wind Superfoods.
In addition to trying the sample plates at each restaurant, customers can win a $25 gift certificate to one of these Local 6 restaurants by posting a photo of the sample plate they have ordered on the Local Eats Week 2016 Facebook event page and then tagging the restaurant. There will be one drawing entry per post.
Local Eats Week is sponsored by the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition's Food Action Team. For more information, see www.sustainablecorvallis.org.
