Bye weeks

With the Utah game week in full swing, the Oregon State football team has completed both bye weeks.

The Beavers had their first on the second week of September between the trip to Hawaii and the San Diego State game.

It’s a little unusual to have two bye weeks this early in the season, but coach Mike Riley isn’t concerned about possible negatives.

“You have to take the schedule as it comes,” Riley said.

The second bye was timed so that the Beavers could have plenty of open time before Thursday night’s game against Utah.

It also frees up two straight Saturdays.

“This is a pretty good deal, the Thursday (game), because it gives us a chance to recruit two weekends and that’s kind of a bonus part of it,” Riley said.

“After that, you’re really just into the push into the last half of the season.”
