The Beavers added another four-star recruit with the verbal commitment of Shurod Thompson.
Thompson is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back out of Liberty High in Brentwood, California.
Thompson had offers from quite a few schools, including Oklahoma, Boise State, UCLA, USC, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
He told www.sportsoutwest.com that he enjoyed his visit to Corvallis.
“I was very comfortable,” Thompson said. “I see myself there for four years even if my football career doesn’t work out.”
He added that he can play several positions on defense.
“I can play cornerback, linebacker, safety, whatever. I go all out for my team,” Thompson said.
Linebacker David Henry has retired from football due to medical issues stemming from several concussions.
Henry was a sophomore who had made the move from fullback to linebacker. He played in two games this season and had four tackles.
