The city of Philomath will have openings on four committees beginning in January and is inviting citizens to apply.

The planning commission will have two vacant positions. The commission, which typically meets once per month as needed, makes decisions related to zoning, land use and development. Terms on the planning commission typically run four years.

Four positions are available on the budget committee, which is made up of seven citizen volunteers and the seven elected members of the city council. The committee meets several times in the spring and receives budget updates throughout the year. Terms range from one to three years.

Two positions are available on the seven-member park advisory board. The board makes recommendations to the city's public works committee on issues related to parks. Terms run three years.

One position is available on the city’s tree board, which makes decisions and recommendations based on the city's tree ordinance and its enforcement.

The mayor and city council will make appointments at their Jan. 14 meeting.
