Environmental regulators are seeking public comment on a wetlands permit to allow developers to expand a mobile home park, which is located on North 19th Street north of Industrial Way and south of West Hills Road.

According to an application with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Oregon Department of State Lands that lists Sun Forest Meadows and JD McGee, the proposal calls for filling 3.37 acres of wetland to add 73 lots to the mobile home park. Sun Forest Meadows plans to grade the site and excavate 4,325 cubic yards of soil and discharge 16,334 cubic yards of concrete, asphalt, gravel and topsoil fill material to level the area.

The applicant's proposal states that the project will provide a suitable base to construct mobile home fill pads, roads, utility lines, curbs, driveways, lawns and sidewalks. Facilities would be constructed in uplands to capture stormwater to pretreat prior to releasing the water downstream.

The property features 4.09 acres of wetlands in all along with Newton Creek, which is a tributary to the Marys River.

Written comments should be addressed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and should include the reference number NWP-2018-545. They can be emailed to Benny.A.Dean@usace.army.mil or mailed to Benny A. Dean Jr., Eugene Field Office, 211 E. Seventh Ave., Suite 105, Eugene, OR 97401-2763.

The deadline to submit comments is 5 p.m. on Feb. 28.
