Two positions on the five-member Philomath School Board will be voted upon in the May election and the school district is seeking candidates to serve four-year terms.
Candidates must be at least 21 years old, registered to vote and have lived in the Philomath School District for one year immediately preceding the election. Board members may live anywhere within the district boundaries and will be elected on an at-large basis.
Candidates must file with the county clerk’s office by either submitting a petition containing the signatures of 25 registered voters of the school district or file by submitting a declaration of candidacy and paying a $10 filing fee. The filing deadline is March 21.
The seats are currently held by Rick Wells, who announced that he would not seek re-election, and Shelly Brown, who said recently that she was undecided on whether or not she would run again.
Ballots will be mailed to voters around May 1 and the election date is May 21.
