Following is a rundown of Philomath-related public meetings for Monday, Oct. 14:
The Philomath City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. for an Urban Renewal Agency work session to discuss the latest involving the Philomath Streetscapes Improvement Project. The regular meeting follows at 7 p.m.
At the meeting, there will be separate public hearings on proposed changes involving two sections of city code. The municipal code update involves changing standards primarily related to commercial and residential parking, manufactured home development, temporary storage, housing in the downtown commercial district, validity of approved plans and pre-existing approvals and new code addressing the protection of Philomath’s existing tree canopy.

The other hearing involves a section on annexation development code with a focus on addressing new requirements that helps the city determine in greater detail its limitations on new property proposed to come into the city. Both sections moved out of the Planning Commission level on unanimous votes.
The meeting will also include several other items on the agenda, including confirmation of a City Council appointment, a proclamation recognizing Indigenous People’s Day, a street banner proposal involving recognition of veterans, recognition of service of outgoing councilor Marion Dark and various other items (see attached agenda).
The council is expected to make a decision following the public hearings and discussion.
