The Philomath Spring Cleanup event will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the Philomath Public Works yard. Provided in cooperation with Republic Services, the event provides city residents with the opportunity to get rid of unwanted junk.
The cleanup event is free for Philomath residents who live inside the city limits. Proof of residency is required.
Industrial dumpsters will be available and Republic Services will assist with unloading vehicles. The entrance will be located on the south end of South 16th Street. Two city employees will verify Philomath residency and that the items are recyclable.
Organizers said they cannot accept household garbage, car batteries, tires, motor oil, propane tanks, gas cans and hazardous waste materials such as used paint, insecticides or cleaning agents.
Among the items accepted will be wood, scrap metal, yard debris, computer/electronic equipment, cardboard and other materials not listed above. Appliances and items containing Freon — such as refrigerators, freezers and air-conditioners — will be accepted this year with no fee.
More specific information on what is allowed and not allowed can be found in the city's April newsletter. To view a digital version, go to bit.ly/philomath-newsletter-april.
