Police Log

Editor’s note: This log includes incidents in which there might have been a public disturbance or risk to the public. Information comes from the Philomath Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.


WARRANT: Philomath police arrested Donald Lee Resue, 25, on a warrant after spotting him on the 5200 block of Southwest Philomath Boulevard at 6:03 a.m. Resue, a transient, had an Albany Municipal Court warrant for failing to show up to a court hearing on a misdemeanor theft charge.


TRESPASSING: Philomath police responded to the 2500 block of Newton Street at 9:04 p.m. on April 24 for a report of telephonic harassment. After speaking to both parties, the officer determined no crime had been committed and advised the two to not contact each other in the future. Less than four hours later, at 12:28 a.m. on April 25, Philomath police responded to the same address for a disturbance. Police arrested Andrea R. Dorman, 33, of Corvallis, on charges of first-degree criminal trespassing and unlawful possession of Oxycodone.

FIRE (AGENCY ASSIST): Philomath police responded at 2:45 a.m. to ShelterWorks Limited at 351 N. 15th St. to assist Philomath firefighters with a fire on the outside of the building that involved material that the company uses to make its products.

THREAT: An insurance company representative reported to Philomath police that he received a threat over the phone.

THEFT: Philomath police took a report of an employee at a local business stealing from other employees.

TRESPASSING: Philomath police cited a juvenile at 6:07 p.m. on a second-degree trespassing charge for being at Philomath Elementary School. The individual has been banned from entering all school district property.


WARRANT: A Benton County sheriff deputy arrested Eddie Allen Downard, 47, on an Oregon State Parole Board warrant after spotting him at 8 p.m. in the front yard of a residence on the 500 block of Heritage Hills Drive. Downard’s city of residence was not listed.


DISTURBANCE: Philomath police responded at 12:02 a.m. to the 1300 block of Cedar Street for a report of a man banging on the caller’s back door or window. Police were unable to locate anyone suspicious in the area.

CRASH (AGENCY ASSIST): Philomath police aided the Corvallis Police Department in handling a traffic crash at 1:57 p.m. on the 5500 block of Philomath Boulevard.


DUII: Philomath police arrested Faron DeWolfe, 53, of Philomath, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop at 9:25 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 34.


FRAUD: The Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to the 31800 block of Whitman Way for a fraud complaint. A woman said she received a phone call from someone claiming to be Sgt. J. Marr of the Corvallis Police Department who said there was a warrant for her arrest. The caller demanded that she provide personal information and send him $3,000 in payment vouchers. A bank teller told her it was likely a scam, so she called law enforcement instead of sending the vouchers.


DISTURBANCE: Philomath police responded at 8:11 p.m. to the 400 block of North 20th Place for a report of a fight in progress between two men. No further details were provided.


WARRANT: Philomath police arrested Rodney Earl Savage, 47, of Philomath, on a Benton County warrant for failing to appear in court on a methamphetamine possession charge. Savage was a passenger in a vehicle that the officer pulled over at 1:53 a.m. at Southwest 53rd Street and Southwest Cherry Avenue in Corvallis.


VANDALISM: Sometime between the evening of May 1 and early morning of May 2, someone vandalized mailboxes on the 300 block of South 24th Street, breaking them off of their post.

FIRE (AGENCY ASSIST): Philomath Police Department responded at 1:16 p.m. to help Philomath Fire & Rescue with a reported residential structure fire on the 1200 block of North 19th Street. The exterior of a mobile home caught fire from an improperly disposed cigarette, and the resident was able to extinguish the fire before emergency responders arrived.

TRAFFIC CRASH: No one was injured in a crash at 1:47 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Landmark Drive.

POLICE CHASE: Philomath police arrested Luke Forest Johnson, 40, of Halsey, on charges of reckless driving, attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of intoxicants following a pursuit that began on Main Street in Philomath at 11:38 p.m. and ended in west Corvallis after he crashed into a vehicle.

BARN FIRE: 4:17 p.m., 20000 block of Highway 20, Blodgett.

SMOKE INVESTIGATION: 5:28 p.m., 33000 block of Marys River Estates Road.

PUBLIC ASSIST: 9:41 p.m., 200 block of South 15th Street.


MEDICAL: 8:12 a.m., 1200 block of North 19th Street.

MEDICAL: 7:52 a.m., 24000 block of Ervin Road.

UNINTENTIONAL ALARM: 12:05 p.m., 500 block of South 19th Street.

HOUSE FIRE: Exterior damage due to a cigarette, extinguished by resident, 1:16 p.m., 1200 block of North 19th Street.

TRAFFIC CRASH: 1:49 p.m., Main Street and Landmark Drive.

MEDICAL: 5:13 p.m., 700 block of North 12th Street.
