Information comes from the Philomath Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

SUNDAY, OCT. 6

DUII: A Benton County sheriff deputy pulled over Gregory Dean Murrell Jr., 48, city of residence not available, at 9:05 p.m. on Highway 20 just west of Blodgett. Murrell, whose blood alcohol content reportedly measured 0.12%, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and reckless endangering.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 9

DUII CRASH: A Benton County sheriff deputy was dispatched at 4:16 p.m. to Hidden Valley Road near Pleasant View Drive for a possible crash. Upon arrival and investigation, the deputy arrested Robert James Ekstrom, 69, of Philomath, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Ekstrom’s blood alcohol content reportedly measured 0.20 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

METH: A Benton County sheriff deputy arrested Jeffrey Alexander McNees, 30, of Lebanon, on charges of possession of methamphetamine and replacement of vehicle window tint with unapproved material. Another occupant of the car, 26-year-old Jenipher Larsen of Newport, was arrested for allegedly possessing methamphetamine and violating the terms of her probation. The arrests took place at 1:15 a.m. near 14th Street and Main Street.

FRIDAY, OCT 11

SEXUAL ASSAULT: Philomath police took a report of a sexual assault.

THEFT: Philomath police took a report of a theft on the 1800 block of Main Street.

TRESPASS: Philomath police responded at 9:54 p.m. to a report of trespassing on the 100 block of South 14th Street.

SATURDAY, OCT. 12

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Philomath police responded at 7:29 p.m. to the Meet’n Place Tavern for a report of a man causing a disturbance. The responding officer spoke to the suspect, a 40-year-old Philomath resident, in the tavern parking lot and warned him about his behavior. The man’s wife drove him home.

PUBLIC INTOXICATION: A Philomath police officer spoke to a drunken man at 8:12 p.m. near the railroad tracks at North 15th Street, and contacted the man’s wife to take him home.

SUNDAY, OCT. 13

THEFT: Philomath took a report of a man driving off from Towne Pump at 7:20 a.m. in a red Ford pickup without paying for $34 in gas.

MONDAY, OCT. 14

DUII CRASH: A Benton County sheriff deputy responded at 3:35 p.m. to a report of a crash on Kings Valley Highway near Alexander Road. The deputy pulled up to find a 1991 Ford Taurus on its roof in a ditch. The driver, Daniel Clark Hobden, 33, of Philomath, was extricated from the car and taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Hobden was issued criminal citations for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.

THEFT: Philomath police took a report at 6:16 a.m. concerning a theft that occurred on the 1100 block of Main Street.

THEFT: Philomath police took a report of a man dropping his wallet while getting into his vehicle in the Marys Peak True Value parking lot and another man pulling into the parking lot and picking up the wallet within 2 minutes.

DISTURBANCE: Philomath police responded at 9:08 p.m. to the 300 block of North 10th Street for a report of a disturbance.

TUESDAY, OCT. 15

METH: Philomath police arrested David Lewis Sanders, 47, of Philomath, at 1:38 a.m. on the 2700 block of Main Street. Sanders was booked in jail for multiple warrants for failing to appear in court and on an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine.

SEX OFFENSE: Philomath police took a report of a sexual offense involving two minors.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 16

TRESPASSING: Philomath police arrested Christian Daniel Wirth, 24, of Albany, on criminal trespass, burglary, coercion, harassment and criminal mischief charges from an alleged incident at a Philomath residence on Oct. 9.

WARRANT: A Benton County sheriff deputy responded at 1:30 p.m. to a report of a man lying on the side of Highway 34 at Decker Road, about 5 miles southwest of Philomath. The man, identified as 38-year-old Bryan Patrick Cicco, city of residence not reported, was arrested on multiple warrants out of Marion and Clackamas counties, as well as an additional charge of resisting arrest.

VEHICLE CRASH: Philomath police responded at 4:01 p.m. to South 19th Street and Applegate Street for a vehicle crash. No one was injured.

TRESPASSING: Philomath police arrested Diane Moran Heitmeyer, 60, of Philomath, at 8:10 p.m. on the 100 block of North 14th Street on a charge of second-degree criminal trespass.
