THURSDAY, SEPT. 26

DUII, DRUGS: A Benton County sheriff deputy arrested Charles Thomas Roster, 34, of Lyons, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs), reckless driving and possession of methamphetamine. The deputy pulled over Roster at 11:15 p.m. as he was driving into Ellmaker State Park on Highway 20 in Blodgett.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 27

WARRANT: Philomath police cited and released Tiffany Ann Bates, 19, no fixed address, on a warrant for failure to appear in court on an original charge of methamphetamine possession. She was also cited for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. The interaction took place on the 2100 block of Applegate Street.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 28

TRESPASSING: A Benton County sheriff deputy responded at 11:30 a.m. to the area of Decker Road and Highway 34, about 5 miles southwest of Philomath, for a 40-year-old man who was locked behind a gate at Starker Forest. The man entered the property through an unlocked gate but the gate was locked by the time he tried to leave. The deputy “helped [the man] correctly interpret the tree farm maps so he knew where he was allowed to hunt.”

NO DRIVER’S LICENSE: Philomath police cited Brian Naryan Varma, 41, of Albany, for failure to carry or present a driver’s license following a traffic stop at 11:16 p.m. on the 2500 block of Newton Street.

MONDAY, SEPT. 30

THEFT: A man reported to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 30 that sometime around Sept. 10 someone broke into logging equipment at Bunker Hill near Reese Creek Road between Monroe and Philomath, stealing a CB radio and a “logging book.” A citizen later located the logging book inside a leather notepad in Philomath.

TUESDAY, OCT. 1

ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER: Philomath police arrested James Thien Huynh, 55, of Corvallis, on a charge of assault on a public safety officer. The interaction took place at 11:37 p.m. at an address on the 1100 block of Southwest Cole Place in Corvallis.

WARRANT: Philomath police cited and released Lora Martina Pawley, 32, of Philomath, on a warrant for contempt of court. The interaction took place at 8:50 p.m. on the 1300 block of Applegate Street.

THURSDAY, OCT. 3

METH: Philomath police cited and released Edgar Neil Smith, 63, of Philomath, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The interaction took place on the 1400 block of Main Street.
