FRIDAY, OCT. 19
TWO-VEHICLE CRASH: No one was injured when a vehicle turning left onto Highway 20 from Kings Valley Highway collided with a vehicle traveling west. A Benton County sheriff deputy was dispatched to the scene at 7:09 p.m. and reported that the motorist driving on Highway 20 said the other motorist stopped at the stop sign on Kings Valley Highway, hesitated, then pulled out in front of her. The other motorist said she pulled out in front of the vehicle on Highway 20 because she thought that vehicle was moving into the turn lane to turn right onto Kings Valley Highway.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: A Philomath police officer responded at 10:16 p.m. to the 500 block of South 13th Street for a report of a motorist driving around a gravel parking lot flashing his headlights. The officer contacted the driver and warned him about trespassing on private property.
WARRANT: Philomath Police arrested Suzanne Marie Smith, 37, of Sweet Home, following a traffic stop at 11:47 p.m. on the 6600 block of Philomath Boulevard. Smith had a Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court on an original charge of animal abuse.
SATURDAY, OCT. 20
LIVESTOCK AT LARGE: A Benton County sheriff deputy responded at 10:20 a.m. to Bellfountain Road and Llewellyn Road for a report of a horse walking on the roadway. The deputy found a white Palomino behind an open fence on the 25700 block of Llewellyn Road. The owner arrived a short time later and took the horse back to his property.
HIT-AND-RUN: Philomath Police responded at 7:20 p.m. to the Dollar General parking lot for a report of a hit-and-run involving property damage. After investigating, police cited and released Sheena Ann Willis, 19, of Philomath, on a charge of failure to perform duties of a driver.
SUNDAY, OCT. 21
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: Benton County sheriff deputies responded at 10:45 p.m. to Byrd Lane in Blodgett for a possible burglary in progress. Deputies and search dog, Brutus, performed a search of the interior and exterior of the property but were unable to locate any suspects or any signs of forced entry into the residence.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON: A Benton County sheriff deputy was dispatched to Old Peak Road for a report of a suspicious person that the complainant believed could be hunting on the complainant’s property. The deputy arrived and spoke with a hunter who was on Starker land and stated he had permission from Starker Forests to be there. Additionally, the hunter had a master hunter license, which he earned by going through an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife program that focuses on advanced knowledge of the sport and, particularly, on understanding the concerns of private landowners.
MONDAY, OCT. 22
CONTEMPT OF COURT: Philomath Police transported Daphne Elizabeth Starling, 36, of Alsea, to jail after the Philomath Municipal Court judge found her to be in contempt of court.
MISSING PERSON: Philomath Police took a missing person report of an adult female not seen since Oct. 19. No further information was provided.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Philomath Police took a report of an unknown person cutting a hole in the metal cyclone fencing at Philomath Self Storage sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 21.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24
WARRANT: Philomath Police arrested Destiny D. Damewood, 32, of Philomath, on a warrant after coming in contact with her at 6:16 p.m. at Towne Pump.
