Master recycler course

Master recyclers tour the recycling sorting facility that processes materials from OSU and communities throughout Linn and Benton counties.

Organizers announced that registration is open for an upcoming master recycler class, a noncredit course for the community hosted on the Oregon State University campus.

Co-sponsored by OSU Campus Recycling and Republic Services, the eight-week class is held from 6:15 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays from Oct. 1 through Nov. 19.

Topics include landfill science, waste reduction, reuse opportunities, recycling, composting, hazardous waste, community sustainability and taking action. The class also includes three field trips, including visits to a recycling sorting facility, landfill, composting facility, resale store and more.

The course is free to residents of Linn and Benton counties who agree to “pay back” what they learned through 30 hours of volunteer service after completion of the course.

Registration and additional details are available on OSU Campus Recycling’s website at tiny.cc/recycclass. The deadline to register is Sept. 9 but class size is limited.
