PHS boys basketball: Ethan Manning

PHS senior Ethan Manning scored 16 points and had nine boards in Friday night's win over Sweet Home.

The Philomath High School boys basketball team finished strong in the fourth quarter to defeat Sweet Home in an Oregon West Conference matchup Friday night, 58-46.

The Warriors held slim leads of 22-20 at halftime and 38-35 going into the fourth quarter but outscored the visiting Huskies, 20-11, over the final eight minutes.

Senior Ethan Manning had a big fourth with eight of his 16 points, which included 4 of 5 from the foul line. He also had nine rebounds in the game, four off the offensive glass.

Sophomore Michael Lundy also hit double figures in the game with 12 points and he was effective at the free-throw line as well by hitting 7 of 8 for the game. Lundy also had Philomath’s only 3-pointer in the game during the fourth quarter.

Marshall Brattain added nine points, seven rebounds and two steals. Toby Stueve scored eight points and had two steals.

Philomath upped its record to 11-8 overall, which puts the Warriors at No. 9 in the OSAA rankings, and 3-5 in the Oregon West.

Sophomore Aiden Tyler scored 14 to lead Sweet Home (13-7, 2-6).

Philomath plays on the road Tuesday at Cascade.
