The Philomath High boys and girls tennis teams both posted 7-1 victories Tuesday over Woodburn.

The boys beat Woodburn on the road, sweeping the doubles matches and taking three of four in singles. In the three doubles matches that were contested — one was a win by default — Philomath’s teams gave up only four games.

Winners included Luke Haslam and Nick Stucki (6-1, 6-1), Bryce Beeton and Nathaniel Workman (6-0, 6-0) and Jeremy Alston and Alec Stucki (6-1, 6-1).

In singles, Colton Beckstead won in the No. 1 slot over his opponent, 6-2, 6-2. Dylan Bell won at No. 3 by a 7-5, 6-4 count and Noah Aynes took his opponent at No. 4 by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 2-0 (retired).

Philomath’s boys go to 5-1 overall, 1-1 in league play.

The Warriors are scheduled to play a makeup match Friday at home against North Marion.

The girls played on the Ashbrook Independent School courts in their victory over Woodburn. The Warriors swept the doubles matches and won three of four in singles.

Doubles winners included Lindsay Schell and Ella Skinkis (6-0, 6-0), Claire Skinkis and Amelia Skinkis (6-0, 6-0), Chloe Jurva and Atira Fairbanks (6-2, 6-0) and Ashlynn Wulk and Quincey Pittman (6-0, 6-1). Philomath surrender only three games in the doubles matches.

Singles winners included Selah Carlisle (6-1, 6-1), Maddie Melton (6-1, 6-2) and Madison Francis (6-4, 6-3).

Philomath’s girls are undefeated this season with an overall mark of 7-0 and a league record of 5-0.

The girls are scheduled to play a makeup match Wednesday against Sisters on the Ashbrook courts.
