PHS girls soccer: Alivia Pittman

Hey Warriors fans, today is Monday, Nov. 4.

Let’s take a little bit closer of a look at Philomath’s first-round opponent in the Class 4A girls soccer playoffs.

The Warriors enter the postseason with a 10-game unbeaten streak. Philomath hasn’t lost since opening the season with losses of 1-0 to Hidden Valley and 2-1 to Gladstone. The Warriors enter the playoffs as the No. 6 seed and will face 11th-seeded Henley in the first round.

Henley brings an overall record of 6-5-4 into the game with no losses over the past two weeks. The Hornets beat Astoria, 2-0, Saturday in a play-in game.

Any common opponents between the two schools? Only Hidden Valley since the Mustangs and Hornets both play in the Skyline Conference. In their two meetings, Hidden Valley won the first game, 2-0, and Henley won the second game, 1-0. As I wrote earlier, Philomath lost to Hidden Valley.

I wouldn’t read too much into comparing those results, however. Philomath’s game against Hidden Valley was clear back on Sept. 4 in the season opener and if I’m recalling correctly, I think the Warriors sort of dominated that game and somehow lost.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you at the next game.
