Hey Warriors fans, today is Monday, Nov. 25.
Just yesterday, I wrote two stories about athletes that have both Philomath and Oregon State connections. Haylie Bennett, who is a junior with the Beavers volleyball team, is having a pretty good season, although the team results have not come out as well as desired. (A lot of close losses for OSU this fall).
Bennett leads Oregon State in kills and is among the top of the list when it comes to blocks. Bennett had a pretty good redshirt freshman year, battled through injuries as a sophomore and is now playing well as a junior. It’ll be fun to see what she can do as a senior.
Meanwhile, Hannah Hernandez plans to run for the OSU cross-country team. She announced her intentions while signing with the Beavers during a short ceremony on Thursday night. Hernandez is a senior who will cross-train this winter with the swim team and then go for gold this spring with the track and field team. Hernandez has been one of my favorite athletes to cover at Philomath High over the past four years. It will also be fun to watch her in the coming years to see what heights she can reach.

Anyway, give those stories a read. They’re online now are you can read them in the Nov. 27 print edition.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you at the next game.
