Hey Warriors fans, today is Saturday, Oct. 5.
Opposing teams that try to penetrate Philomath’s defense in girls soccer often end up on the ground while No. 22 sends the ball downfield to a teammate.
I’ve seen it happen time after time, including in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Stayton.
“I like playing defense. There’s not necessarily a lot of glory back there, but I like it,” Rust said. “I feel a lot of pride in defense and I like supporting the team and that’s where I can do it best.”

Rust received a yellow card in the Stayton game with an official ruling that she intentionally knocked another player to the ground.
“I’ve had them in the past but not in high school .. this might be my first one,” Rust said. “They said I intentionally did it which I think’s very wrong because she’s very known for flopping in all sports. You’ll see her in basketball on the floor.”
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you at the next game.
