PHS senior Lauren Berklund scored 14 points against Sweet Home.

Philomath High School’s girls basketball team bounced back from a loss earlier in the week with a 63-19 rout Friday over Sweet Home.

The Warriors improved to 17-3 on the season and 7-1 in the Oregon West Conference. Philomath and Stayton, which split their season series, are tied atop the standings.

In Friday’s win, Philomath came out fast and built a 35-10 lead by halftime. Freshman Sage Kramer scored 10 of her 14 points in the first half, a total that included a 3-pointer in the second quarter. Senior Lauren Berklund also scored 10 of her 14 in the first half.

Junior Emma Pankalla was a third Philomath player to hit double figures with 11 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers. Junior Lara Hunter hit the other 3-pointer for PHS.

Sweet Home dropped to 1-18 overall, 0-8 in the Oregon West.

Philomath heads up to Cascade Tuesday for another conference matchup.
