Producer Justin Buckles' creation, Cabaret Brunch, makes its debut at Bombs Away Cafe Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. The monthly event will include drag bingo, burlesque, comedy and more.

If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, Justin Buckles wants to make sure that brunch is the most entertaining.

Patrons at Bombs Away Cafe in Corvallis will find out for themselves Saturday at noon when Cabaret Brunch debuts courtesy of Justin Buckles Productions.

"Cabaret Brunch, which I have produced in several states, will feature an afternoon of performances, games, drag bingo and more," Buckles said. "A couple of hours of fun, mimosas, bloody marys and that all important distraction from all the stresses that life throws our way."

Performances in this new monthly brunch event include burlesque, comedy, singing and dance.

Buckles, a native of Coos Bay, previously worked as a production coordinator and production manager in Los Angeles on "American Idol" for nearly five years, as well as a few years on "So You Think You Can Dance," and "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels." He also worked on shows for several other networks.

In 2008, he moved to Portland and started to produce his own events, and in 2013 founded Justin Buckles Productions.

Buckles said he owns and operates 10 touring shows and produces dozens of annual events and competition style events in the Portland metro area.

His shows and performers have been featured on "America's Got Talent," in the film "Burlesque: Heart of the Glitter Tribe," touring with Dan Savage, and Justin Buckles Productions is in pre-production for its own docu-series reality program, he said.

His goal with Cabaret Brunch is to provide an entertainment outlet in smaller cities and towns that don't have "big city" style events. He has the event confirmed in Corvallis and Hood River, and is in discussions with other venues in cities around Oregon.

Buckles promises to keep the entertainment fresh each month with mid-valley and regional talent.

"We'll use local Corvallis performers, and I'll be bringing performers down from Portland and over from Salem as well. Every month we'll have different performances and music," he said.
