The Oregon State University Summer Choir will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, in the First United Methodist Church, 1165 NW Monroe Ave.
OSU’s summer choir is an annual tradition that brings together current and former OSU students and members of the Corvallis community in a celebration of choral music. The ensemble is conducted by graduate-level music education students working under the guidance of Steven Zielke, director of choral studies at OSU.
Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in D minor, Op. 48 is the major work on the program. The work is a 35-minute, seven-movement setting of the traditional Catholic mass. The program also includes Fauré’s “Cantique de Jean Racine,” Tom Porter’s “Lux Aeterna,” Amy Bernon’s “Oceans and Stars,” and more.
The concert is free. No tickets are required and all seats are general admission.
