Composer from Corvallis wins Radcliffe Fellowship

Former Corvallis resident Josh Levine has been awarded a fellowship with the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.

Levine was one of a class of 50 fellows announced on Tuesday by the institute. They will live and work at Harvard for the 2018-19 academic year, receiving a stipend of up to $77,500.

A guitarist and composer, Levine attended Crescent Valley High School and Oregon State University, studied in Europe and holds a doctorate from the University of California at San Diego. He has taught at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, San Francisco State University, UCSD, Stanford and Harvard, and is currently a visiting faculty member at the University of Iowa.

He is the son of Shepard Levine and the late Gloria Levine of Corvallis.
