A Corvallis man was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of nearly 100 sex crimes charges against an infant, according to a Corvallis Police Department news release.
Edd Lahar, 30, is accused of three counts of first-degree rape, seven counts of first-degree sex abuse, one count of first-degree sodomy, 15 counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, 15 counts of encouraging child sex abuse, 15 counts of possession of materials depicting the sexually explicit conduct of a child, 15 counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse, seven counts of sexual misconduct, seven counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, seven counts of contributing to the sexual delinquency, and seven other sex crimes charges.
The investigation began on Wednesday, when the Police Department received information that Lahar had sexually explicit images involving a child on a cellphone. Investigators served a search warrant at his residence and uncovered additional evidence of numerous incidents of sex crimes against the child, according to the news release.
Lahar’s initial bail at the Benton County Jail is $6.7 million.
