The Corvallis School District announced this week that an assistant principal at Crescent Valley High School will be the district’s new secondary schools coordinator.

Nikki McFarland has been at Crescent Valley since 2016 and previously worked as an assistant principal at Cheldelin Middle School, the district said in an announcement.

The district said she has a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning and geology and a master’s of education degree in secondary science, both from Western Washington University. She taught biology and environmental science and worked as a dean of students and an assistant principal in Washington before coming to Corvallis in 2015, the district said.

Rynda Gregory has been working as the district’s secondary schools coordinator since 2013.

Brenda Downum, the district’s communications coordinator, said Gregory will be working part-time next year in the teaching and learning department as a coordinator focusing on the district’s high school success program. Gregory’s new position, Downum said, is funded by a state grant high school success grant.
