Individuals make fundraiser a success

Old Mill Center for Children and Families would like to express its profound gratitude to everyone involved in putting on our annual dinner and auction on May 4.

Thanks to the generous efforts of sponsors, volunteers, donors and staff members, we were able to exceed our financial goal to help support our mission of assisting children and families in the community.

Our thanks to presenting sponsor Duerksen & Associates, who also donated the car for our car raffle; Gerding Builders LLC for sponsoring the raffle; major sponsors Market of Choice, Samaritan Health Services, Republic Services and Tax & Wealth Management LLP; and all of our table and room sponsors (full list available at oldmillcenter.org).

Thank you also to Valley Catering, Airlie Winery and Cardwell Hill Cellars for providing food and beverages for the event.

Special thanks to Candy Pierson-Charlton and David Charlton for coordinating volunteers on the day of the event, and to our auction committee volunteers: Becky Berglund, Cindy Bond, Brenda Coleman, Sue Cook, George Cuniff, Dennis Hanson, Alicia McWilliams, Cheryl Narver, Candy Pierson-Charlton, Lynn Rush, Bettina Schempf, Kim Van Horn, Linda Ward and Jan Zajicek.

And finally, thank you to all the volunteers and those who donated their time, artwork, merchandise, and services to the auction. We thank you all for helping to make our work possible.

Veterans Memorial thanks community

The Benton County Veterans Memorial would like to express a deep gratitude to the community for your 21 years of support.

It was an honor to work with the Oregon State University ROTC programs under the direction of Midshipman Morehouse: Navy, Marine, Air Force, Army, Capt. Sisson and Commander Timothy Reidy, NROTC, and the Silver Talons — perfection!

A special shout-out to the Corvallis Fire Department, who has honored us with the large American flag each year, and the Oregon National Guard.

We would like to express our gratitude to the children, our next generation: Connor Godwin, Andrew Jones, Hannah Jordan, Andrew Kesterson, Leo Sun, Emmaline Westfall and Neil Yeh; Corvallis High School students and teacher Chris McGowan; Crescent Valley High School leadership and teacher Chris Layman; and the Boy Scouts of America, troops 2 and 3.

Elks Club helps homeless veterans

Every year for the past four years our Corvallis Elks collect hygiene supplies, notebooks, pens and locks for our Good2Go Veterans at Community Outreach Inc.

These welcome bags are a great way for us to engage with our veterans who happen to be homeless) and are needing to know that our community cares. Our Good2Go veterans have difficulty asking for help, but having a “thank you for your service” accompanied by an Elks welcome bag goes a long way.

Our Good2Go Vets at COI wanted to let the Corvallis Elks know that we appreciate your ongoing support!
