Rev. James W. Rehley died February 9, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
Rev. Rehley was born April 2, 1932, to James and Helen Rehley in Palmer, Massachusetts.
He married Marilynn on August 21, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio.
James served seven years in the US Air Force. He survived a water plane crash while stationed in Iceland, and was honorably discharged after receiving medical treatment for 18 months.
After his service, James went to Concordia seminar in Springfield, Illinois and became a pastor in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, serving His Lord for 55 years by ministering to churches in North Carolina, South Dakota, Washington and Oregon. He was a member of Zion Ev Lutheran Church.
James enjoyed music — singing, playing and listening to it. He also enjoy classic comedy, with Laurel and Hardy, Peter Sellers, and “The Simpsons” being his favorites. James enjoyed traveling, particularly visiting historical sites around the United States, Europe and Israel. James also was student of World War II history.
He is survived by his wife, Marilynn; sons, Paul, John, Peter and Mark; daughter, Ruth; brother, Robert; sisters, Jean Robinson and Ann Chamberlain; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with a reception to follow.
