Wayne A. Norman, 82, formerly of Lebanon, now of Sedona, Arizona, died Thursday, December 21 at his home in Sedona. He had struggled with Parkinson’s disease for many years.
He was born March 16, 1935 in Portland to parents Arthur and Marie (Kowitz) Norman of Lebanon. Wayne attended Griggs Elementary School and Lebanon High School. He then attended Cypris College of Mortuary Science at Cypris, California.
He worked a number of years at Peyton Mortuary in Oxnard, California before returning to Lebanon when he purchased Huston Funeral Home in 1960. He was the owner operator of the firm until 1976 when he moved to Sisters.
During his business years in Lebanon he was a member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge; East Linn Masonic Lodge; Linn County Shrine Club; Knights Templar and Lebanon Rotary Club.
While in Sisters he purchased a motor home from Beaver Coach in Bend and soon after became a salesman for Beaver. When the company opened a sales store in Mesa, Arizona, Wayne went along. He earned numerous sales awards while with Beaver.
In 1989, Wayne purchased a home at Sedona where he has called home since. He has been involved in real estate investment until his death.
Wayne was fond of animals especially two dogs, his schnauzer “Pixie” and after Pixie, “Sarah.” Both preceded him in death.
He enjoyed collecting things, including antique clocks and a large collection of brass fire hose nozzles.
Survivors include his companion and caregiver for numerous years, Barbara Molina.
His sister: Eileen Duncan of Lebanon and a niece, Jan Duncan, and nephew, Mark Duncan, both of Lebanon.
A viewing will be from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Friday December 29 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 30 at Huston -Jost Funeral Home.
A private burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may made to Safehaven Humane Society and directed to Huston-Jost Funeral Home; 86 W. Grant St.; Lebanon, OR 97355.
