September 7, 1922 — November 28, 2017
William Parsons, resident of Albany, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
“Bill” to nearly everyone who knew him, was born on September 7, 1922 in Smoot, Wyoming, the eldest of five siblings. When he was in elementary school his father suffered a permanent injury, and Bill had to quit school to work and help support the family.
He met the former Hazel Sessions Freeman in Afton, Wyoming, and they were married in 1956. Hazel had two sons, Doug and Gary Freeman, by a previous marriage, and they became a close-knit family.
Bill and Hazel and their sons moved to Boise, Idaho in 1957 where they built a very successful truck stop and restaurant business, and were able to retire in 1983.
They moved to Albany in 2003.
Besides the successful business venture, Bill more than made up for his lack of formal education by a winning personality that made friends easily everywhere he went. He was an avid outdoorsman and was devoted to his family.
Hazel died in 2005.
Besides Doug of Alexandria, Virginia and Gary of Medford, Oregon, Bill is survived by younger sisters Ion Helm of Smoot, Wyoming, Renee Dolton of St. George, Utah, and Denna Lee Fluckiger of Bedford, Wyoming; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 9 at the LDS Church at 2850 Grand Prairie Road Albany.
Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
