It’s not an illusion: The Oregon State University campus is bustling with construction projects as fall quarter gets underway. Here’s a quick overview of some of the most notable projects:

Current projects

Austin Hall

What: Future home of the College of Business

Location: A half-block north of the Memorial Union

Size: Four stories, 100,000 square feet

Cost: $50 million

Completion: Fall 2014

Student Experience Center

Location: Next to the Memorial Union; the building will house student government, media and other organizations

Size: Four stories, 88,000 square feet

Cost: $42 million

Completion: November 2014

Residence hall

Location: Next to Wilson Hall on the east side of campus; this new dorm will house 324 students

Size: Five stories, 76,400 square feet

Cost: $28 million

Completion: Fall 2014

Cesar Chavez Cultural Center

What: New home for Latino student organizations

Location: 691 S.W. 26th St.

Size: One story, 3,500 square feet

Cost: $2.4 million

Completion: January 2014

Asian & Pacific Cultural Center

What: New home for Asian and Pacific islander student groups

Location: 2638 S.W. Jackson St.

Size: One story, 3,500 square feet

Cost: $2.4 million

Completion: Fall 2014

Basketball Center

What: Practice facility for OSU men’s and women’s basketball teams, located next to Gill Coliseum

Size: 41,000 square feet

Cost: $15 million

Completion: Opened in June

OSU Beaver Store

What: After operating for decades in the Memorial Union, the renamed OSU Bookstore has moved into new quarters in the parking garage at Southwest 26th Street and Washington Way.

Size: Two stories, 45,000 square feet

Cost: $12 million

Completion: Fall 2013

Coming soon

Lonnie B. Harris Black Cultural Center

What: A new home for African-American student groups

Location: 2320 S.W. Monroe Ave.

Size: One story, 3,500 square feet

Cost: $2.4 million

Completion: Fall 2014

Classroom building

What: New home of University Honors College and other programs, with 2,300 classroom seats in a variety of configurations

Size: Four stories, 130,000 square feet

Cost: $65 million

Completion: Fall 2015

Engineering building

What: Located just north of Kelley Engineering Building

Size: Three stories, 60,000 square feet

Cost: $40 million

Completion: Fall 2016

Strand Ag Hall

What: Major remodeling project includes deferred maintenance and seismic upgrades

Size: Five stories, 116,000 square feet

Cost: $25 million

Completion: Fall 2016

Washington Way

What: First phase of street realignment project, including reconstruction of 15th Street intersection

Location: Southwest 15th Street to Benton Place

Cost: $3.3 million

Completion: Fall 2014

Memorial Union east wing

What: Renovation of former bookstore space for student activities

Size: 30,000 square feet

Cost: $12 million

Completion: February 2014
