Subaru of Corvallis supports Old Mill

During its Share the Love event in the winter of 2015, Subaru of Corvallis raised $20,220 for Old Mill Center for Children and Families.

Many thanks to the hard work of Sales Manager Scott Goff and his team, and the generosity of the Benton County community. Buyers had the option of choosing from four national charities or a local charity, and they overwhelmingly selected Old Mill Center, 2015’s local charity.

This generous donation helps to provide education, prevention, and intervention services to our local children and families. The “big check” was presented by Steve and Barb Jackson, owners of Subaru of Corvallis, to Bettina Schempf, the executive director of Old Mill Center, at Old Mill Center’s 36th Annual Dinner and Auction on Saturday, May 7.

Subaru of Corvallis has a history of giving back and supporting community organizations through its “Subaru Loves” promise.

Old Mill Center for Children and Families started in 1977 as an integrated preschool and now offers five programs to support local children and families. Over 1,600 children and families are served each year, receiving multileveled, individualized, and group support.

Effort to feed kids was a success

The May 6-7 Feed My Starving Children event held at the Benton County Fairgrounds was a great success: Donors and volunteers — 500. to be exact —contributed over $22,000 and packed over 108,000 nutritionally engineered meals for distribution to the most vulnerable of children around the world.

Thank you to the many volunteers and donors, as this event would simply not have happened without their efforts: The Benton County Fairgrounds, Special Occasions, Stahlbush Island Farms, many local Corvallis and Philomath churches.

The event’s success highlights the value of local volunteers, churches, businesses and donors coming together to impact an international cause. With God’s help, the prepared food and prayer will bring much hope to hungry children around the globe. It is overwhelming to think about what we can do together: Thank you for your partnership!

Home Depot donation brightens Benton Center

The Benton Center Corvallis Preschool Co-op would like to thank the Home Depot for its generous donation of plants for our preschool entry way flower pot for the second year. This cheerful burst of colorful flowers also greets Linn-Benton Community College students, staff and faculty and adds beauty to the front entry way to the Benton Center for the community to enjoy. Small details can cheer hearts.
