The Corvallis Sister Cities Association’s Uzhhorod Council has an opportunity for two families to develop a  relationship with Corvallis’ sister city of Uzhhorod, Ukraine.

Two 15-year-old female high school students from Uzhhorod have been accepted by the Future Leaders Exchange program. The Sister Cities Association has been asked to assist in finding home stays for each of these young women for the 2019-20 academic year. The council is looking for two host families, one in the Corvallis High School district and one in the Crescent Valley High School district.

Host families provide room and board, and treat the student as a member of the family. Students come with their own insurance and spending money.

Begun in 1993, FLEX is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program funded by the U.S. Department of State. FLEX students who pass rounds of testing earn a scholarship to spend an academic year in the United States living with a volunteer host family and attending a U.S. high school.
