Corvallis Police Department


THEFT: 10:40 a.m., 2150 NW Ninth St., Corvallis. Police responded to University Honda for a report of a man buying a green 1997 Acura CL with a bad check. Police listed the car as stolen.

STOLEN GUNS: 3 p.m., 1400 block of Northwest Kings Boulevard, Corvallis. A man reported his Savage 17mm rifle and Rock Island pump action 12 gauge shotgun were stolen from his car.

STOLEN CAR: 2400 block of Northwest Garryanna Street, Corvallis. A woman reported her 1993 maroon Honda Accord coupe stolen from her residence. The car was recovered on Saturday in the 900 block of Northwest Sycamore Avenue. Both license plates and the stereo had been removed from the car. The vehicle was returned to the owner.

STOLEN MOTORCYCLE: 3:30 p.m., 1200 block of Southwest Maple Tree Court, Corvallis. A man reported his red 2001 Yamaha YZFR6 stolen from his driveway.


COCAINE: 1:12 a.m., 1500 block of Northwest Highland Drive, Corvallis. Police responded for a report of two men carrying traffic cones and knocking over trashcans. Officers approached the men and one ran away while the other, Leroy E. Santos, 22, of Corvallis, was detained. Santos reportedly had cocaine in his possession. Police arrested Santos for delivery of cocaine, possession of cocaine and third-degree theft. Police were unable to locate the man who fled.

BURGLARY: 5:33 a.m., 1500 SW 53rd St., Corvallis. Police responded to Dutch Bros for a report of a burglary. Someone had pried open the electrical panel and turned off the power to the building. The suspect then broke the drive-through window and took $200 in cash from the till and $100 in cash from the tip jar. The suspect tried to pry open the safe but was unsuccessful.

STOLEN CAR: 11:20 a.m., 1600 block of Northwest Division Street, Corvallis. A man reported his red 2005 Dodge Neon had been stolen.

COUNTERFEIT MONEY: 2:12 p.m., 746 NW Kings Blvd., Corvallis. Police responded to 7-Eleven. A cashier reported a woman had attempted to load $500 onto a prepaid card using fake $20 bills. The woman left prior to police arriving.


DUII: 2:45 a.m., Northwest Van Buren Avenue and Northwest Ninth Street, Corvallis. An officer stopped a car for driving without headlights and failing to maintain lane. The officer arrested the driver, Roman A. Torres, 23, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Torres reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office


ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE: 1:42 a.m., Highway 99W and Llewellyn Road, Corvallis. A deputy tried to stop a car for having no rear taillights. The driver, Rochelle Christine Wynonna Smith, 21, of Corvallis, reportedly turned into a driveway and attempted to flee in the car, eventually crashing into a pole and getting stuck in the grass. The deputy arrested Smith for criminal trespass, attempt to elude, possession of heroin and criminal mischief.


DUII: 2:03 a.m., Southeast Third Street and Southwest Avery Avenue, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for speeding and arrested the driver, Conner Lee Hibbs, 24, of Albany, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Hibbs reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10 percent.

DUII: 3:37 a.m., 21412 Highway 20, Blodgett. A deputy arrested Jonathon David Hilchey, 22, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Hilchey reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.09 percent.

INJURY CRASH: 11:43 a.m., Highway 20 and Scenic Drive, Albany. A driver had been traveling west and was negotiating a curve when her car began hydroplaning. She lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. Medics transported her to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries.

INJURY CRASH: 3:37 p.m., Highway 20 and Northeast Granger Avenue, Corvallis. A driver had been turning east onto Highway 20 from Northeast Granger Avenue. A driver traveling west on Highway 20 did not have time to stop after the first car pulled out and the vehicles collided. Both drivers were taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries. Neither was cited.
