ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: 8:40 a.m., 2696 SW Third St., Corvallis. Police responded to Bob Grant Construction, where a suspect had removed a piece of sheet metal siding just under a window in an attempt to gain entry into the building. It appeared as though the suspect then attempted to cut through the wooden wall but was interrupted, as a knife and small flashlight were left behind. No suspects were identified.

SCAM: 6 p.m., 2600 block of Northwest Highland Drive, Corvallis. A woman told police she had been contacted by someone who told her she had been approved for a grant. She was instructed to contact a man for further information and this man directed her to purchase six Steam gift cards in the amount of $50 each to pay back taxes she owes before she could get the $9,200 grant. The woman purchased the gift cards at Walmart and provided the numbers to the man over the phone. The woman later attempted to use the gift cards to purchase groceries and was told they had no remaining balance.


STOLEN GUN: 8:19 a.m., 3700 block of Southwest Waterleaf Avenue, Corvallis. A man reported his Jeep Cherokee was broken into and a camouflage backpack filled with hunting knives and camping equipment, an orange duffel bag and a black Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun were stolen.

DUII: 12:40 a.m., Summit Highway and Highway 20, Blodgett. A deputy stopped a car for a traffic violation and arrested the driver, Lee Michael Czerny, 33, of Halsey, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Czerny reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent.
