The air stagnation advisory in place for the mid-valley has been extended through at least noon on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service office in Portland says air quality may deteriorate each day due to stagnant air over the region. Smoke from wood stove and pile burns will have difficult dispersing. Persons with respiratory illnesses should follow their physician's advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution.

For updated air quality information, check the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's Air Quality Index.

An air stagnation advisory is issued when, due to limited movement of air mass across the affected area, pollution may increase to dangerous levels.
