The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition recently received a $40,000 Grassroots Grant from Meyer Memorial Trust to hire its first paid staff member, a .75 FTE development coordinator who will focus primarily on creating and implementing a long-term development plan that includes grant writing and fundraising. This work will support the implementation of the community’s sustainability action plan.
Annette Mills, the coalition’s facilitator, noted in a press release that “The size and the breadth of Coalition activities now exceed the capacity of our current all-volunteer base. The addition of permanent part-time staff will enhance the Coalition’s effectiveness and long-term ability to support our action teams and foster greater collaboration with our partner organizations.”
Formed in 2007, the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition is the flagship organization for sustainability in Corvallis and Benton County. It is a network of nearly 300 partner organizations and hundreds of volunteers working to create a more sustainable community. The organization’s mission is to promote an ecologically, socially, and economically healthy city and county.
