The National Weather Service office in Portland has issued an air stagnation advisory for the mid-valley, saying that pollution in the area may increase to dangerous levels.

The advisory will remain in effect until at least 10 p.m. Monday.

An air stagnation advisory is issued when there's limited movement of an air mass across the affected area. Smoke from wood stoves and pile burns, for example, will not disperse much and diminished air quality could negatively affect health, especially for people with respiratory sensitivities. People with respiratory illnesses should follow their physicians' advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution.
