Having lived for the past many months in Europe, I am burdened with the embarrassment of representing a country that knowingly elected a lying, bully, womanizing, sexist, racist, ignoramus as president.

His pulling the United States out of its responsibility to help address the changing climate not only diminishes our international stature, but robs future generations of Americans and all humanity of the world which we enjoy. Being the child of a Holocaust survivor, and with incalculable sadness, I cannot but conclude that voting for Trump was unforgivable. The Republicans falling into line with this deeply flawed president manifests behavior equally unpardonable.

I cannot help that this conclusion might read as promoting division, but truth vastly outweighs my preference to smooth-over this emerging disaster. The United States under the guidance of Trump has ended innocence, and provides a horrifying view of the deep flaws in our system, and citizenry.
