Political correctness is, of course, a form of mental disorder and it is always interesting to see what new thought crime it concocts. Deranged minds are endlessly inventive.
The latest manifestation seems to be “cultural appropriation and insensitivity.” An example is Kathy Griffin holding up a model of President Trump’s severed head. Of course she should have realized that would be greatly offensive to the Islamic State. Severing peoples’ heads is a deeply felt cultural tradition of IS and should be respected and applauded. Shocking that she would be so insensitive.
While opening a tiki bar would hardly seem to be in the same category (though one never knows — leftists have no sense of proportion), it is the “local angle.” The Facebook posting reads like the confession of a victim of the Inquisition (which, in a real sense, it is) or perhaps the Stalinist “show trials” of the 1930s (maybe that’s where the template for the Facebook post came from). It is not enough that the victims alter their ways; they must be made to grovel pour encourager les autres. It’s disheartening that something like this could occur in Corvallis, but not really surprising.

I expect my analysis will meet with vehement refutation. Well, both in 16th century Spain and 1930s Soviet Union, recantation of your “act of faith” was always treated more seriously than the original thought crime. We can expect the same low standards in Corvallis. Plus ça change ...
