On Friday, people all over the globe will participate in World Car-Free Day.
In Corvallis, the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition will celebrate the Eighth Annual Car-Free Day in Corvallis by launching “Get on Board!,” a campaign to encourage community members to discover the advantages of riding the bus. The campaign’s co-sponsor is the Corvallis Transit System.
The coalition invites people who live, work, shop and play in Corvallis to take a pledge to ride the bus and be eligible to win prizes. Winners will be announced Nov. 1, so pledges need to be made by Oct. 31. To pledge, go to www.sustainablecorvallis.org.
One of the goals of “Get on Board!” is to make sure Corvallis residents know that the Corvallis Transit System is fare-free.
The system also operates the Philomath Connection, which connects at the Downtown Transit Center.
Residents can explore nearby cities using other transit systems that connect to Corvallis.
