"The families have overwhelmed facilities intended to house single adults."
"The system is well beyond capacity and remains at the breaking point."
These quotes are taken from a March 6 article that appeared in The Wall Street Journal concerning the recently increased number of families crossing our southern border illegally. There are people in the United States who deplore the U.S. turning away immigrant families or "caging" immigrant children whose families have caused them to cross the border illegally.
I would like to suggest creating a sign-up sheet for everyone who strongly opposes turning away these families or asking them to "spend days in cinder-block cells [term used in article, not my term] with no beds or showers."
Anyone who is appalled at and opposed to these actions would be asked to "sign up" to house and feed at least one of these families indefinitely. I'm sure they should be more than willing to do this in the name of humanitarianism. Once this sign-up system is in place, people will then be asked to either sign up or shut up.
