I am disappointed by the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce’s decision to not welcome cannabis businesses into their organization. It represents a stark rejection of these new businesses in our community, many of which are owned by and employ young people, and “piles on” to the challenges they already face.
I am a 74-year-old occasional user of cannabis, both for pleasure, pain reduction, and sleep enhancement. I have many friends, neighbors, and acquaintances in my age range who have been helped by cannabis products.
The Corvallis Chamber of Commerce had the opportunity to stand in solidarity with other Oregon towns, while firmly and openly supporting these businesses. Voters just showed their support of sanctuary cities, opposing federal policy, and I believe they would support cannabis businesses as well.
Please rethink your decision.
