Regarding the Corvallis City Council's rejection of Oregon State's plans to build a residence hall at Ninth Street and Monroe Avenue:
So disappointing to see our spineless City Council once again kowtow to the NIMBYs and special-interest groups that hold a disproportionate amount of influence in Corvallis.
Equally disappointing was the absence of two councilors from the meeting. Valid or not, their absence effectively disenfranchised me (a resident of Ward 8) and thousands of other Corvallis voters from any say in the decision.

Interesting that the council approved the Carson Map Amendment, which will have far, far more impact on the involved neighborhood than the proposed OSU dorm. Guess the Carson neighbors didn't have as many buddies on the council in their pockets to do their bidding as the Central Park neighbors did.
