What a heartbreak to read that a cougar was stalked and killed because it was “aggressive.” Does that mean it chased a runner who was running in the forest? Big cats, like cougars, live in forests. People who run (especially alone) in the forest may be chased by a big cat. Western Wildlife Outreach says, “Avoid running in cougar country." Even the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife writes, “Do not run. Running triggers a chase response in cougars, which could lead to an attack.”

Lots more people kill cougars than the other way around. Please make smart choices when you want to exercise in cougar country.
