For an awe-inspiring visual experience, an adventure story, and to learn about how the border wall is impacting natural areas along the Rio Grande, be sure to see "The River and the Wall," showing this week at the Darkside in Corvallis. We've all been hearing about the human tragedy occurring at the border. This film adds a vitally important other dimension to the story.
I recently visited border areas in Arizona, and learned about how migratory species of mammals, birds, and aquatic life are also affected by the wall, and the habitat destruction ensuing: all made legal by Homeland Security's Real ID Act of 2005. This film follows five adventurous folks who travel the length of the wild and beautiful Texas border to understand what's happening there. Thank you, Darkside, for bringing this illuminating movie to town!
