In the second sentence of his letter on June 28th, Corvallis resident Greg Peterson claimed that House Bill 2020 would have increased the fuel tax to $15 per gallon by 2050. That is not even close to the truth. The Legislative Revenue Office, as reported in The Oregonian on June 19, cites the most likely fuel tax would be $3 by 2050, with the maximum at about $5 in the most extreme and unlikely scenario.
