Ending the budget impasse is simple. Add $10 billion to the budget for “border security,” twice as much as President Trump asked for originally. A win. None of this money is for a “wall.” No such language in the bill. A Democratic win.
A total of $5 billion of the $10 billion goes for enhancements to electronic surveillance at the border. Call that our “electronic fortification” or something even catchier. Enough wall-like for Trump. Enough high-tech for those interested in actually doing something real about securing the border.
