In the July 25, 2019 Gazette-Times, Laurence Daley asks for a comparison of greenhouse gas emissions between domestic cattle and American bison. A simple internet search yields these numbers: The peak population of American bison (pre-1800, estimate) was 60 million. The domestic cattle population (2018) was 94 million. I am sure bison are not "magical," but there were far fewer of them at their peak than there are domestic cattle today.
