Irony in bloom: At the very time that the Linn-Benton budget committee and board is recommending canceling the horticulture-crop production program, I received in my mailbox the latest funding request from the LBCC Foundation, titled "Oak Tree Advisor," filled with terms like "Planting seeds in a garden you never get to see," " Reap a greater harvest," "No green thumb? We'll help you plant the seeds for a legacy," and "Here's how to grow your LBCC legacy." Sure hope the board and budget committee get their horticulture classes in before the program is canceled.
